An amazing opportunity for college students to live, learn and work in Jerusalem. Join Bnei Akiva/TVA and OU-JLIC as we create an exciting social and religious summer community on the campus of Midreshet Torah V’Avodah in the Katamon neighborhood of Jerusalem!
Who: College students, both men and women.
When: June 18 – August 5 (You must be available for entire duration of the program)
What: Participants will live together in Jerusalem, work in an internship of their choice during the day and study Torah in the evenings. Details below.
Cost: $1,500 early bird rate – ends December 13, 2024. Applications received after December 13 – $1,750

Program Overview
JLIC Summer in Jerusalem (SIJ), Bnei Akiva of the US and Canada/TVA and Onward Israel offer professional internships during the day and a vibrant evening program offering a full array of teachers, social events and learning opportunities.
- Spend the summer on the campus of Midreshet Torah V’Avodah in the Katamon neighborhood of Jerusalem.
- Vibrant Beit Midrash: there is a focus on both chevruta learning and shiurim on a variety of topics with amazing teachers from TVA, OU-JLIC and all across Israel and America. The learning program is accessible for people who are interested in a more text-based traditional learning style.
- Internship program designed to build your resume and develop work skills. Our professional internship team will find you a great summer internship!
- Incredible weekend excursions across Israel.
- Fun social programming to explore Jerusalem and build community.

We are honored to partner with MTVA and their educational staff, led by Rabbi Yehuda Seif.
Rosh Yeshiva & Executive Director, TVA
Rabbi Seif studied at Yeshivat Har Etzion and received his ordination from Rav Zalman Nechemiah Goldberg. He received his BA from Columbia College, his MA in Religion and Education from Columbia's Teacher's College, and Israeli Teacher Certification from Herzog College. He was a fellow at the Center for Jewish Law and Contemporary Civilization at the Cardozo School of Law, and he completed his PhD in Religious Studies at University of Pennsylvania. He served as a Senior Program Officer at the Tikvah Fund. He served as the Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus educator at the University of Pennsylvania from 2002-2006.
Program Directors
Uri and Abby Lorkis along with their daughter Naama just finished their first year as JLIC Directors at the University of Michigan after a year as the Assistant Directors of JLIC at Bar Ilan University in Givat Shmuel where they have lived for the past few years.Uri grew up 45 minutes from the University in Oak Park, Michigan, is a graduate of Farber Hebrew Day School/Yeshivat Akiva, and is excited to be returning home.Upon graduating high school, Uri studied at Yeshivot Orayta and Hakotel before drafting into the IDF where he served as a paratrooper.After the army, Uri spent two years in Yeshiva, and a third year learning in the Mizrachi Musmachim Semicha Program while studying Social Sciences at Bar Ilan University.Uri likes to play hockey, jam out on guitar and piano, and loves to pick up new skills and hobbies. Abby grew up in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating from Central High School, Abby spent a year learning in Midreshet Harova. Inspired to move to Israel, Abby made Aliyah, and completed her Bachelors degree in Social Work at Bar Ilan University. Abby loves watercoloring, exploring new cuisines, and being out in nature
Housing
Paricipants stay in TVA’s beautiful, modern apartments in the Katamon neighborhood of Jerusalem. All apartments include AC, WiFi, and full kitchen.
